Any good experiences of GCSE Eng/Maths pre-GCSE year summer courses?

Especially with a kid with ADHD. I'd been OK with how DS was going, he seemed headed for good enough to progress type grades, but in Y10 so far he seems to be going downhill. He was doing alright in maths, but that seems to have slid as well. He is very imaginative and articulate but has always had difficulty getting started writing in English and generally can't get anything out in tests. I don't even know if he's on top of the very specific demands they make about writing in English Lit otherwise. It's also affecting his ability to sit History tests, and he is otherwise good and interested in history.

Sadly, I'm beginning to think I'll have to pull him out of the two-week summer camp he usually does (I have paid deposit, but no more yet) so he can take some sort of extended summer course in Maths and English, if there is such a thing. Initial search suggests most things are 1 week max, but are there longer ones?

Be very interested if anyone has experience of a course they'd recommend in or near North London that was effective, and ideally suitable for a kid with ADHD.

Would steady 1-1 tutoring not be better than an intensive course?

Don’t know about intensive courses but just posting to say DD is a student studying English lit at University of Exeter currently. She offers online tuition for English lit/lang at a very competitive rate. She could also cover History if need be. She has one tutee who is in Year 10 and another student with ADHD. Her sessions are designed to be less formal than the classroom and she doesn’t want the student to feel like the hour is a chore.

You’re welcome to PM me for contact details if you’re interested.

Thanks - yes, looking at it 1:1 looks better overall... just need DH to get a job so we can afford it! 😬
