Attendance at sixth form - 17/18 year old

She's gone from 99% attendance last year to 88% this year at sixth form. In 2 subjects attendance is about 70%, but is 100% in favourite subject. Her grades have dropped from A*/A to Cs in all but favourite subject.

I didn't have a clue until I saw her termly report and was very shocked.

I had a phone call from her form tutor today to discuss.

What would you do? She is claiming anxiety in her least favourite subjects but none in her favourite.

I am at a loss. She needs BBB to get into favourite university choice.

What would you about this for a teenager if this age?

Why has nobody contacted you before? My son’s 6th form ring you straight away. This isn’t a helpful answer as I don’t know what I’d do. I just try and do a mix of carrot and stick.

Tell me about it! I am shocked it was the first time I'd heard of it.

I think you need a meeting with school and your DD to find out more details on how long this has been going on for and to discuss your DD's worries and what can be done to help attend school.

If she's anxious - can she identify what is causing the anxiety for some but not all classes?

Is there a risk they'll ask her to leave if her attendance keeps falling? Our 6th form is pretty strict on attendance.
