What is reasonable? At the moment it’s midnight at the weekend. In the week, they only tend to go to their sport training sessions / the gym so are home at 9pm at the latest. But I can sense change afoot and want to be ready!
Whats a good balance at the age where they are still school kids with exams coming up but is also the age where they could join the army or get married (there’s no plans for either of those things as far as I’m aware..!)?

In 2025 they can't get married until 18 and can only join the army with parental consent. 16/17 is now widely viewed as still needing guidance and boundaries.

At that age the precise curfew time is less important than what they are doing and how safe they are. Drinking or hanging around unsupervised is very different to an activity/club or cinema trip.

16-18 is a tricky age as some parents go completely hands off, whilst others actively encourage risky behaviour, so you have to try to avoid comparison and just think about what would be a safe and positive life for your own child. Who they are with and what they're doing is the key concern. Also don't assume other parents see things the same way - check details before saying yes.
