Bullying

My son is in his gcse exam year. He has been bullied verbally since the beginning of the year. The last straw was the other kid pouring a drink over his had and my son tackled him to the ground. He got suspended. This then happened 4 more times. The latest with my son trying to break up a fight with same group. He got a punch in the face. Suspended again. Was told not to get involved in other friends fights which he agreed with and said he could have handled it better. He's told me he can be
verbally abused by about 5 people at once, every single day. He's told to write up a statement to explain what happened.
After this last one He's been told he's out if he so much as shoves a kid starting on him. He thinks they will look him out and start as nothings stopped them before. I'm at my wits end. Any advice appreciated

Schools are really crap at sorting this kind of thing out. When are these incidents happening? If its break or lunch is there somewhere he can go to avoid the bullies? Its GCSE year and the gobby idiots usually leave after that, he just needs to keep his head down and get his exams. Its hard though, I was bullied all the way through senior school.
