Finding national insurance number

My daughter has got her first job but we can't find her NI number. Went on to HMRC Website and says you have to set up a government gateway account to access it. To do this you need passport ID and drivers licence but she doesn't have latter. Any idea how we find her NI number? The place of employment wants to add her to payroll and can't until we find it. Thanks.

Both my kids got a letter announcing their NI numbers about two months before they turned 16. The numbers were also on their child trust funds (although I didn’t realise that until recently).

I recall getting this but we can't find it anywhere. Im not sure if she has trust fund, as separated from her dad and think he dealt with it. Will try to find out and do postal request in meantime. Thanks

Do you need both passport and drivers license? I got DD's sorted with just passport i think. It was pretty straightforward online. Unlikely a 16 year old would have a DL yet?

From a payroll perspective, no NI number should not delay her from being added to payroll and paid on time. An NI number is not necessary to be put on payroll. If that’s what they’re saying I would push back on that.

Have you tried the NI helpline? 0300 200 3500?

Pretty sure it's passport OR driving license.
