Help! Choosing college & friendship issues

My daughter has 2 options of colleges. One is local that she’s always wanted to go to but her best friend stopped speaking to her and now she feels she has no friends and is really anxious about going. The other is a bit further away but would give her a fresh start. Any advice from anyone who might have been in a similar situation? Thanks

Presumably the college takes students from several schools?
And is 'friend' taking the same subjects?

There will be ample opportunities to make new friends. She probably won't even see the old friend much.
If she wants to go to the closer college, then don't let one nasty teen stop her.

Yes there are other schools and no they’re not doing the same subjects

Don't let the ex friend dictate your daughter's future.

Most colleges are pretty big.

many students make new friends anyway.

i wouldn’t change college over this.

Go with the college that she feels like she will do better at. Which one does she feel most comfortable at when viewing, what are their results like and their facilities etc.

I wouldn't bother going based on friendships.

My DD went to college with 1 person she knew who was a friend. They soon drifted apart and DD made completely new friends who are just the loveliest bunch. In school she didn't have a good group of friends and college is so different.

It's normal to be anxious but she needs to remember there's going to be many people starting that also feel that way. She won't be alone.
