Just that.
Jobs like cafes, supermarkets etc.

My son wore black cargo trousers and a white t-shirt

Kendodd · 15/07/2025 17:01

I don't think my son has anything suitable. Plus, I don't really know what employers expect

Jeans and a t shirt.

Chinos, polo shirt and a quarter zip. Always go smarter than the role requires. His current and previous employer all fed back that they were very impressed that he'd come dressed so smartly.

Agree with 'always go smarter than the role requires'

I don't think my son has anything suitable.

Then his school trousers and shirt - open necked or with a tie.

Yes, it depends on the role and the employer, but if they are holding interviews, then teach him to treat that with respect. No-one will ever mind an interviewee being 'smarter than was necessary' but could go against someone who looked like it wasn't important enough to them to make an effort.

Smart jeans or chinos with a polo shirt

Kendodd · 15/07/2025 22:13

Thank you. I think he needs to go shopping

Mine wore black jeans (new ones that weren’t faded), and a nice white polo shirt (could have done with an iron), and he got the job 🙃

Scrubbed clean hands and nails for anything catering related. White shirt black trousers

TickleMyPickle · 16/07/2025 21:15

My 16 year old son got the first job he interviewed for (at Sainsbury’s) he wore jeans, polo shirt and ( clean) trainers.

LoyalMember · 17/07/2025 06:50

Nice jeans, probably black or navy blue, and a smart polo shirt.

HeBeaverandSheBeaver · 17/07/2025 06:55

My son would wear his suit trousers from prom suit with a coloured shirt (not school) and looks very smart

He likes to look nice tho and has a few shirts

Blankscreen · 17/07/2025 07:00

I would say chino, polo shirt and quarter zip (Ralph Lauren type) jumper.

The sort of thing they'd wear to play golf.
