oh 15's a great age.

I was entirely on my own two feet by then. Marvellous fun.

misdee · 24/05/2008 22:25

15 is a hard age.

the irrational part of me is saying 'well if she was 16...'

gah!

Saggarmakersbottomknocker · 24/05/2008 22:26

If the 18 year olds are sensible I'd probably say yes.

WW - please don't remind me about V. I've put it out of my mind for now. ds2 went to a party last night and was supposed to have been camping in the garden. Guess what? They couldn't work out how to pitch the tent lol!

SmugColditz · 24/05/2008 22:27

I rang my parents from Skegness once, 10 at night.

"Mum, Dave's car's out of petrol, we are staying in a b and b but me and Emma with be in one room, and him and Mike in the other, so it's fine"

"GET YOUR BACKSIDE IN THIS HOUSE BY MIDNIGHT OR I WILL BE IN SKEGNESS BY TWO!"

How did they know, I wondered?

then I realised. they didn't know. But they weren't prepared to take the risk.

I was 15.

WendyWeber · 24/05/2008 22:29

ROFL

DS2 and some friends were planning to go to York on the train on Monday - Bank Holiday Monday!!! - and pitch their tent (which DS2 has practised doing once, in our attic) in some random field

DH has said no.

These boys are nuts.

misdee · 24/05/2008 22:29

well that gave u 4 hours colditz!

Flippin 'eck it's hardly the same Kerrymum.

misdee · 24/05/2008 22:33

mind you at 15, i did spend a week at home alone as i had exams and my parentshad a religious thing to attend to i nanother part of the country.

did have adults close by to check on me though.

SmugColditz · 24/05/2008 22:35

About the same age as the millions of teenagers who go camping unsupervised with their friends and return in the morining knackered, hung over and otherwise unscathed, Kerrymum.

misdee · 24/05/2008 22:38

what aprt of london is it in btw?

Depends on the 18 yr olds for me.

Shh folks, don't mention V, DH is trying to get out of working it.

SmugColditz · 24/05/2008 23:19

no, and she is right, absolutely, and my parents were right not to let me stay in Skegness with 2 nineteen year old boys too.

mumeeee · 24/05/2008 23:21

No. I would not even want the 2 18 year olds to go.

Tortington · 24/05/2008 23:28

she is safely asleep now,

she is really really sensible.

and i know one of the 18 year olds will get into trouble - he will shit herself and i will end up in london at 2 am.

i dont know the 18 year olds.

ds has been going out with his girl for like 4 months. - she seems sensible - but i dont know her - i have nmet her 4 or 5 times. she is working to pay for uni - she is going next year, but believe me DS's judgement is not something i will take on merit.

The GF is deffo going with her friends. Ez wants to tag along with the GF's sister who is same age as Ez and is suddenly her new best friend over the lastfew Months.

and this girl is very nice - but OMG she is sexually active, smokes, yadda yadda - i sound like my Gran!

Ez says she is mature - i dont thinkshe is i think she is sensible - and i think those things are different.

thanks everyone. was a great excersize xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx

What is a Manga conference?

More info needed.

Where would they stay? How would they get there? what exactly are you worried about- drink, drugs, sex- all 3?!

Sorry not much help but too limited info- please tell more!

mellyonion · 25/05/2008 14:50

i would have said yes to the daytime, but home by the same night, but as thats not an option, then sorry....no!

i think that it may all go wrong if the older girls want to go pubbing, your dd may not get in, and they will abandon her all on her lonesome....oh blimey.....no.....

Nighbynight · 25/05/2008 14:50

ha ha
"Mrs silly other person" is so much what my dd aged 11 would say.

I wouldnt let my dd go either if she was 15.

turquoise · 25/05/2008 15:06

NFW from me.

tigermoth · 26/05/2008 07:57

Well, until I read your last message, I'd have said a cautious yes, as long as your dd is really, truly interested in Manga so you know she that would have been a major focus of the trip. If her interest manga is lukewarm then 'no' as there would be obviously be so many other things to distact her.

But after reading your last message about the sexually active 15 year old she would be paling up with, it's got to be a firm no, no matter how obsessed she is with Manga.

I don't think 15 is an unreasonable age to go on an overnight trip with 18 year old friends, but depends on the friends and the destination.

tigermoth · 26/05/2008 07:59

PS - a few years ago, I took my sons to a Manga festival on the South Bank. It consisted of a display of pictures and a handful of manga artists demonstrationg their work. All very nice, but not a lot to do for a day, let alone two (though I suppose if you are a Manga fanatic, it would be heaven). I hope your festival is a bit bigger than this one, though.

Freckle · 26/05/2008 08:14

Coming in late and after the decision has been made, but my answer would be no too. Not least because I would have a terrible time whilst she was away wondering whether I'd made the right decision!
