Hi would like to find out when GCSE exams are finishing. I need to know dates for next year to book holidays. Is finish by end of June that I can go on holidays in July ?

The timetable is broadly similar year to year but the exam boards will not confirm until November whether anything major is changing.

If they make no major changes then the last day your child might have an exam will be the last Wednesday in June.

Personally I would add a week to be on the safe side but that's because my caution levels approach accusations of paranoia.

My daughters exams finished on 13th June this year.

The exam contingency day this year was Wednesday 25th June but I know some schools do events like prom and sixth form taster days after that date. Looks like the contingency day for next year is 24th June.

Most exam timetables for next year are available. Technically they are draft but in reality probably won’t change.

My dc have prom tonight. Had levers assembly on 19th.
My dn has prom on 4th July and levers assembly on 8th July.
There's also 6th form/college trial days in our area they're this week and week of 7th July.
Best check with school as all are different (if they want to get involved in them). Either way as previous said this year it was 25th June as contingency.

I was hoping to go away in July but it looks like it won't work 😞

my dd did hers this year, and there has been party after party for the past two weeks, including prom, 6th induction days.
we could have been going on a 7 star trip to the Maldives and she would have been absolutely gutted to miss out on the parties.
we’re going mid July

Magicalsummer · 27/06/2025 11:12

So mid July probably on safe side I plan 3 weeks away so need to be careful. Only because difficult colleague at work I need to pre-plan everything.

Find out when 6th form colleges etc have taster days these can happen anytime in July. Many 6th forms and colleges prioritize those who go to these days over any other applicants on results day, and many will say it's mandatory to getting a place even if they have an offer.
