Help! This feels bad. Ideas please. What has worked for you and your teen?

What age are they and have you any restrictions in place currently?

OchAyeTheNo0 · 29/05/2025 11:05

How old is your teen, assume you pay for it? What do you currently use to restrict use?

for example my 12yo has a total 1.5 hour limit per day, phone removed at 8pm, charged downstairs. Limits to apps, so not allowed YouTube, no social media… so really only using it for WhatsApp and photos.

Mine never had time limits but wasn't allowed things like tiktoc or Instagram until she was 14/15. Only friends allowed on WhatsApp. So the urge to spend hours on Pinterest wasn't that huge! No phone in her room overnight until she was an older teen either.

Read this article, it really helped me and my DD: https://weareluna.app/parents/guides/mental-health-and-wellbeing/teen-phone-addiction/

this is so helpful...the part the article discuss self-esteem is exactly why i have rules in place for d 14. Have talked to her about influencers and filters as well as I think they can be so over-used for a lot of women my age, but it's so sad that younger people get pressured to use them too. Now women of all ages are more scared to have normal features like skin texture and pores
