Where to get parenting advice/support

A friend of mine is raising two young boys on her own after the sudden death of her husband a few years ago. She's a lovely, gentle person and is having real problems with her eldest who is 11 (I know, not a teenager, but acting very like one!). It feels like she has lost control of him, and he is becoming increasingly hostile towards her. I think it will only be a matter of time before he gets violent, and could easily be heading towards criminal behaviour if she can't establish some boundaries. She wants help and I was wondering what sources of parenting advice or support there might be out there? She's doing it on her own ,and knows that she needs some help. I have been told that Youth Offending Teams have parent support services but don't know how she could access them. Any information welcome.

Tell her to check out Parentline Plus - www.parentlineplus.org.uk

They have a good helpline she can call.
