Camhs assessment

My daughter had a referral done by the GP last week. She has very low mood, lack of appetite and is suffering with extreme anxiety.
She’s not 18 for a few months so the referral was made to camhs.
We’ve already had an appointment come through for an assessment in 2 weeks time!
Referral made by GP on Tuesday.
Phone call from camhs on Friday and appointment made for 2 weeks Wednesday!
I’m astonished as I’ve heard stories of children waiting months and months!!

I have a very long and extensive history with adult mh services (and still under them). I’m guessing though this hasn’t had any influence on the short timeframe?

Sorry to hear your daughter’s struggling.

I did a self referral for my DD to CAMHS and had a follow up call and subsequent referral to another service, and then appointment… all within less than 2 weeks. I was also surprised about how quickly it’s all happened.

I don’t think your history will have affected anything. Our experience is that they prioritise Dzc who are about to reach 18 so that they get any assessments needed before then.

i hope your DD gets the support she needs Flowers
