Student-aged son has been offered three weeks in Poland this summer as an Angloville volunteer, we are aware of the basics in that there's no pay but food/lodging covered and we're OK with that, interested in anyone who has direct experience. (have also posted in higher education forum as it seems it's mainly uni students who do this).
