So Ds1 is away at university in his first year and is poorly.

My DM and DMIL both warned me the worrying doesn't get less as they get older.

Luckily he is close enough that if he is still really poorly tomorrow I can drive up and see him.

He was so sad/unwell on the phone and tough when you are not there to help.

Why not drive up? Needing support and care when you're ill is the case for everyone no matter your age.

@scandalot yes, I will drive up tomorrow but I am not in a position to drive up tonight. He is fiercely independent so he must be feeling really poorly to accept me going up.

Poor lad. I remember getting ill with tonsillitis in my first year and all I wanted was my mum. First year is hardest for this as they don't quite have the solid friendship support yet.
He will get through this and be stronger for it.
