Soon to be teen DS in year 8, started secondary flying along enthusiastic and achieving well. He has told us about some of the bad behaviour that goes on at school and we did have to request a form group move mid year 7 he was telling us this was having a big effect on his learning.
No issues are first but the last half term of year 7 and now into year 8 he's picking up in comparison a lot of behaviour points for low level disruption eg talking etc. This seems to have worsened since Christmas too.
We've tried to talk to him about it and he said the two main lessons it seems to happen in he is bored, we've explained that's no excuse and he is now causing disruption for others.
He's not eating as much but has said he'd like to lose a bit of weight - he isn't overweight but is fairly stocky. Friends have not really changed, a couple of them have questionable behaviour (always have) in his words he seems to now get drawn into the talking etc.
It's nothing massively terrible but I know how these things can spiral and it's not fair on the others who do want to learn. It's quite out of character (he was so upset when he got his first behaviour mark in year 7) I know he's going to change but his underlying nature is one of conscientious so I'm wondering if something is afoot and how to proceed.
We told him last night he needs to sort things out in the next few weeks before parents evening but again today o see he's had a behaviour in tutor lesson.
Sorry for such a long post - can anyone relate or advise?
