DD2 -15 read DD1 - 18's diary. anyway, i'm really concerned because DD2 says DD1 talks about a drunken night out with the girls...and she got raped. How do I approach this with DD1 - or should I leave it for her to approach me, if she does?

Oh Im so sorry for you - you must be so worried.
If the incident was recent - why don't you say something like " Im really worried about you, you seem to be acting differently recently - is there anything you want to talk to me about?" and see if she opens up.

I think you're going to have to engineer the conversation somehow without giving the game away about DD2 reading the diary!

Good Luck.

this is so tricky. taking off all but my parent hats, i'd be tempted to be honest...even though short term it will cause problems between your girls, this is too serious to just ignore...sympathies, it is a horrendous thing to find out.

How awful! Maybe you should try to talk to dd1 on a one to one to see if she may tell you. Don't know if you should say that dd2 read diary? Try maybe to give her an opportunity to speak to you. This is very serious and you must be very worried.
