Looking for advice, I discovered that my 14yr old daughter was still playing her switch with her friends at 2am, it was a Friday so no school the next day was her reply. I told her it was unacceptable and she disagreed, wondered what everyone’s thoughts were and what advice you have regarding an acceptable switch off time and how you handled it with your children.

We handle by not having TV/ ipads or gaming things in her bedroom. WiFi gets turned off when we go to bed. Parental controls on everything.
They can't self regulate as teens so we have to do it for them.
Any infringements = confiscation of said item for a period of time.

13 year old ds has to leave all his gadgets etc downstairs to charge when he goes to bed. Bedtime during holidays is around 10.30pm.

Just take it off her at a sensible time - you are the parent, so you decide.

Take the switch out of her room

Had you ever had a discussion about cut off points? Was she going against pre agreed terms?

i just don't have electronics in DDs room everything like that is kept in the living room and phones charged in the kitchen overnight.

I have a 15yo, no screens in his room and he leaves his phone downstairs overnight. A good night's sleep is so important at this age.

15 and 16 year olds are in bed by 10 and max 11 in the holidays/weekends. I check they are in bed and phones off/lights off and would be confiscating if I found out they were up until 2am. Totally unnecessary!!

14 and 12 year olds here - both have a TV and console in thier rooms (Switch and Xbox).
All tech is off by 9pm latest weekdays and weekends, and phones downstairs from 830pm. The only exception is if we are out or they have friends over.
Yes they moan about it sometimes but ultimately, thier sleep and recovery is the priority.
