Standard or European Single bed?

DS needs a new bed (he currently has a cabin bed). He is around 5'8 at age 13 and I am expecting him to be 6'1-6'2 based on his centile height from birth. I was planning to get him a long single bed (200cm long) from IKEA but have discovered they now only sell standard UK single beds (190cm). Is it worth the hassle of trying to buy him a European single bed from the limited choice on-line or just get a standard single. His dad had an extra bit of mattress added to his bed when he was a teenager as he found his standard single too short. How do your tall teenagers cope with a standard single bed? Am I over thinking this?

Is there room in his bedroom for a small double?

I can see several 90x200 beds on the ikea website?

I'm surprised at the Ikea move. But then I expect the bed is the same as Europe, just they stock UK sized single mattress only now (190 vs 200 for EU single) and leave 10cm space in bed frames.

You could buy a non- Ikea 200cm single mattress to put on the bed. And associated bottom sheets.

Unfortunately not as otherwise that would be perfect as you could sleep diagonally.
