I have a DS in year 13. Asked him about his first few weeks back. One thing he mentioned (with a smile) that a classmate gave him a big squeezing hug from behind in assembly when he wasn't expecting it. DS is a very affectionate person so it made him feel happy and made him feel loved and cared about him.

Thing is DS told me "I was very surprised she did that. It was nice and all, but we aren't really friends like that."

Surely this girl should have asked DS before hugging him? Especially since they aren't really friends.

Had DS randomly hugged a girl without asking.... I'm sure many girls wouldn't be okay with it.
