Lighthearted - secondary school expectations from TV shows

Having a chat with DS (who is early 20s). We were watching one of those Disney TV shows. The ones where they have teenage cast members.

He said to me that when he was in primary school that he was worried that secondary school would be like this. As in those shows influenced his expectations of secondary

Big sporty people bullying nerds, getting shoved in lockers. He was mostly worried about someone giving him a "wedgie". Glad to say none of that ever happened.

Am curious if anyone DC had expectations of secondary school that were a result of "kids tv shows"

Flushing heads down toilets. I have no idea if this was from TV or just general urban myth, but the expectation of having your head flushed down the toilet when you started secondary school hung over me the entire last year of my being in primary.

Spoiler alert: It never happened.

**I went to a very sedate girls' grammar type school so my teenage years were mostly full of disappointment.
But i think those types of pranks were mostly commited by young thugs boys on other boys.

Honestly I feel most bullying is just verbal these days

Back in my day we all thought it was going to be like Grange Hill. It was round about the time of the Zammo Just Say No campaign, and I was convinced I was going to be offered drugs on a regular basis.

Never happened.

DS does tell me that people in his year at school did do drugs come 6th form. Thankfully he assures me he's never touched a thing
