Are Merlin passes worth it?

I am slowly going stir crazy with my kids st home. The 12 and 14 year old are moaning that they can see all their mates at TP &CWA on th3esnap maps.

Luckily we live equidistant from both the parks and kids could easily get bus to both from where we live. They are nagging for Merlin passes. Is this worth it??

Thanks.

I would say yes. We have had Merlin passes for the teens last year. Now just Thorpe Park. We also live close enough to the 2 parks but CWOA just doesn't have enough anymore. It's slightly more awkward being in the ULEZ zone too.

My 14yo will go up to Thorpe Park after school happily with mates.

It's been worth it IMHO

Yes definitely, my son and his friends have been several times a week these holidays.

We had them twice in early teens. We used them regularly at the two local places, then had a few lovely 1/2 night stays visiting others, plus a week in London doing everything. Some of my best memories with them.

OK. You've convinced me. It's a bit late for this holiday
But I will get the passes for October half term start!

TP fright nights are excluded from some of the passes. Not to mention the trouble that can occur there.

I would get some for this holiday tbh.

Yes they last for a year so despite the fact the parks close in October you'll be good to go again at Easter.

There's no deals to be had (I tried). It's just a case of paying and then knowing you're covered for the year.

I've just remembered I actually purchased the kids ones in Aug 2022 and then kept the monthly payment until Oct 2023 when I finished them.

I then bought TP annual passes even though the park was shut until Easter.

I may consider just the Thorpe Park pass then as that is where all the mates seem to go too.

I'm always surprised to hear of people with teenagers that live so close but have never had a Merlin pass. Such great value.

My 4 kids once in secondary school had Merlin passes, they were fantastic and used lots especially during inset days.
They've many happy memories going with their friends, usually went to T P.

We had Thorpe Park last year and Merlin as a one off this year . Benefit of Merlin was that we shared some days out with them into London as well and a couple of nostalgic trips to Legoland including at Christmas . They are very pricy so do the maths as to how many times you need to use them to make them pay . Next year I will just get the kids Thorpe Park - I was happy that they used it enough last year to make it good value . I think Merlin is only worth it if you are going to go to a few places
