DS 15 and hobbies

Looking for advice please! DS 15 is on school holidays (Scotland) and was very into playing rugby at school, but is now talking about giving it up. I want him to have something extra-curricular, but he doesn't see why it's important. He is popular with friends and has a GF. I see his friends having hobbies and just think it's important for mental health and enjoyment. But I don't want him to think I'm disappointed in him, and I don't want to compare him to his friends. May not be relevant but we are both being assessed for ADHD. I held myself back from things at his age, and really believe that when he's nervous, it's stopping him from taking part, but that he is missing out.
Any advice please?

I have to agree with you OP. Being in a routine with activities keep teens focused and not just this vague hanging around with friends, screens or relationships (that probably won’t last). At the same time it’s important not to force them and have them resent you. I would say fine you can give up rugby but what will you do instead?
