Very short interview, bad sign?

Ds 16 had his first interview. He prepared lots but the interview turned out to be less than 10 minutes, very informal and more just a chat with the manager.

They said they'd let him know next week.

Although his responses were well received, I'm thinking as it was so short they'd have probably let him know there and then if he had got the job?

I think it depends on what sort of position he's applying for, and the type of establishment. I didn't even have an interview for my first job cleaning boats, but had a panel of 3 for my second job doing admin at a university.

Also, if they have other applicants they will need to interview everyone before making a decision, as that is only fair.
It sounds like your son did everything required to prepare, if they don't give him the job it's their loss and your son will find a better job. But personally, I wouldn't worry.
