Periods

My 13 year old DD had her first period in January. She then has not had another one, or any sign of one coming, since.

She's very slender (5ft 9 tall but size 4-6 clothes) so I suspect it may be because she has quite a low BMI but I'm wondering if I should be taking her to the GP? Older DD started her periods at a similar age and has been pretty regular ever since, so I'm not sure how normal this is!

DD had her first period and then didn’t have another for 9 months. All within the realms of normal. She started at 14 but wasn’t regular until age 16/17 - GP reassured us that all was well and no need to worry, it’s not uncommon for girls to be very irregular for the first year or two.

I had my first period at 13 and I didn’t have another for 12 months, then they started at 14. I didn’t pay much attention to them but they were a bit all over the place until I was 16. It wasn’t until I was 18 that I had a regular period every month.

I was very underweight at 13 (5 ft 1inch and 5st 3lb). I wouldn’t eat. I started eating better at 16 and “normally” at 18. I do believe my periods were affected by it.

I think it’s normal, but perhaps take her to the doctor just to get her BMI checked on to ensure it’s not too low.

Thanks @Ruffpuff & @stressedespresso that's really reassuring. I'm not expecting her to be regular obviously, but glad to know 6 months without is still in the realms of what is normal.
