Morning all.
My DDs planned 18th celebration at the weekend is in danger of being cancelled by the organisers if the weather stays cloudy & wet😌- it is weather dependent & that decision os out of our hands.
I am at a loss what to do instead. She has spent the last 6 months working really hard for A levels & Im would like to make the day special for her, me & DH. She has already celebrated with friends, & most of them are now away anyway.
She is in a bit of a downward spiral about it all & all my suggestions have been dismissed. She doesnt really have any interests ......netflix, tiktok. She is not into sport, or make up.
Have thought about last ninute west end show tickets, it afternoon tea on a bus in London but think it might be short notice.
Any ideas oh wise ones? Thank you ....

Are you going to share what it is that you were going to do? Would be helpful to suggest other things...

Inspirationfailure · 03/07/2024 07:11

There are always London shows with tickets available on the day, often at a discount. Try https://officiallondontheatre.com/tkts/ or the TodayTix app. Or how about a nice meal out, maybe somewhere where that’s TikTok-famous?

What's the thing being cancelled?
What's your budget?
Where in the country are you?

European city for 1 or 2 nights
Spa day
Fabulous taster menu

TakeOnFlea · 03/07/2024 08:51

Instagrammable tour of London.

Big Mamma Group for food
Cahoots for cocktails
Liberty
Camden

I was going to suggest an away day overseas too

Singersong · 03/07/2024 09:04

Last minute weekend city break?

allaboardtheplaybus · 03/07/2024 11:33

What's your budget? I think the last minute theatre show and dinner somewhere quirky is a great plan.

You could go on sky scanner and see where is available for a last minute weekend away from your local airport...or a trip on the Eurostar?

Or, as a PP suggested, check out which places in London are TikTok famous and do a tour of them (plenty of lunch spots/bakeries I imagine)

An escape room? Dinner up the shard?

Is anyone else coming with you or just the two of you?

holyguacamolebatman · 04/07/2024 06:40

Sorry for the delay.... our budget could stretch to about £100 pp for me, her & DH. We are within an hours train of London.
Thanks for the suggestions so far

£100 each or altogether?

jackstini · 04/07/2024 07:40

Where's your nearest airport?
What was the original plan?

Mairzydotes · 04/07/2024 07:45

Casino

letmeeatinpeace · 04/07/2024 09:52

Flying Trapeze class? (This might be too much if she's not into sports, and weather dependent, but it's so fun / thrilling! Takes 2hrs, no experience necessary)

clueQuest escape rooms in Kings Cross are good

Street Art tour of Spitalfields (though might get v busy on weekend)

As other people have suggested, you’ll always get tickets for a show in London. I’d personally do that, followed by dinner somewhere with Insta kudos. A Big Mamma Group restaurant? Ivy Asia? Alchemist? Sushisamba? Pretty much anywhere in Shoreditch!
tbh, that’s what we’re doing for our DD as her Plan A (just dinner though - no show)
