DD14 doesn’t socialise

My DD14 has always been an introvert and in earlier years was extremely shy. At the minute she has one good friend from her primary school whom she sees once a month or so. She doesn’t seem to have any close friends in secondary school to meet up with and never gets asked anywhere. I think she’s used to it now and i genuinely think she is just happy to be at home with our family during summer holidays. She’s very bright and plays sports but it is the social side of things she can’t manage.

I was very sociable and at her age was always out and about, sometimes I think this is the problem as I can’t relate to her not wanting to instigate friendships. Another point to note she seems to talk much easier with adults than her peers.

Hoping some of you can relate and reassure me that DD is ok and I should stop stressing!! TIA

I have a similar aged ds and he is exactly the same! Loves spending time with us as a family. Happy and has friends in school. Has a sport where he is happy with his team mates. Doesn’t see the appeal of seeing friends outside of these situations and of hanging around in the park or in the nearest town. He’s happy so we leave him to it 🙂
