16th birthday party - ideas for home entertainment for a family party

I usually do my son's party with his friends outside eg go karting / VR / gaming bus etc but this year my son wants just family. I would appreciate some ideas for something that can be done at home as a family ie cousins and uncles and aunties of mixed ages mainly due to the fact that there's a bit of tension amongst some people but they'll definitely be there - I just would love something distracting to ease tension and make it a nice event.
I was thinking archery / some kind of gaming screen in house / garden / etc

Thanks in advance .

PS I live in Manchester

You might be able to get axe throwing. It’s really fun and fine for younger people to do (not sure the lowest age but teens are ok.

How about a Murder mystery evening. You can buy these in kit form with characters, some even suggest menu’s too?

Are you sure he wants an activity to do? It sounds like he is already saying he wants it a bit more low key, perhaps without activities, just with family
Would a BBQ work? Would he enjoy helping you put it all together, helping with cooking (he'll feel really grown up!) and serving it up?
