Would you class it as neglecting your 13yr by refusing to change their bedding when they are capable to do so themself

That is not neglect. In any way, shape or form.

My 13yo is perfectly capable, but often forgets. We occasionally strip the bed so that it has to be made before bedtime.

By them, I mean...

Thank you my daughter likes to tell me I’m neglecting her and not meeting her needs but she is capable and has changed it before.

No. I stopped changing my kids bed when they went to high school.

I used to strip the bed and leave their new bedding by the bed for DD to put on. She was quite happy to sleep on the bare mattress for a few days . Dirty little thing!😂 She’s now 23 and really tidy!!

Mine likes to say that too. Not about beds. Just other stuff.

Peonies12 · 26/06/2024 16:29

Of course not neglect. my 8 year old changes their own bed, with help, and does lots of other tasks. don't bring up a spoilt child!

I have it thrown at me on a daily basis generally when she is told now. My daughter is recognized as domestically abusing with with social services and the local police. I just needed to reach out and ask other mums as I am starting to question my parenting

All my DC's were stripping their own beds by the time they got to comp. I helped with getting duvet covers on for a while longer but otherwise they did their own beds.
