Teenage Boy hair product help for longish wavy hair

DS14 has thick wavy hair that's in a transition period of growing out. It's prone to greasiness which we combat with nettle shampoo. But it is all over his face and it would be great to find a non-greasy styling product that he could use to somewhat tidy it in the mornings. Can anyone recommend anything please?

This is how it looks (it's slightly longer now)

That's the same as mine's hair, he uses Frizz ease dream curls curl defining cream, lots of repeat buys
