Holiday after A levels

Hi , did you fully fund your child’s first holiday away with friends ?

I didn't. DC1 worked and paid for their own holiday and felt proud about being able to do this.

Why do you ask?

I think everyone is different. We live very rurally so getting a job is difficult and I wanted him to focus on his exams, plenty of time for working..as it happens he's coming with us which we're paying for but I would have paid if he'd have preferred to have gone with his mates.

I used savings when I was 18

I’ll be paying for mine to either go on holiday or to Reading Festival, whichever she wants. She has a PT job so could pay for herself but I want to. She’s a great teen and works hard, and I’m lucky enough to be able to do it for her. It certainly isn’t expected though.

DD pretty much never asks for anything, so if she wants a holiday post A-levels then I'll pay for it.

DS finishes his last exam tomorrow, then on Sunday is going interrailing for 3 weeks. We brought him the ticket for Christmas, plus insurance, but he's worked and saved for all the hostels and hotels etc.
He's so excited about it I'm not sure the exams today or tomorrow will go very well

DD paid for hers with PT job money. I’m going to give her some spending money (she doesn’t know - she has saved for this too, but I’ll surprise her with Euros next week) - she’s worked hard and deserves it and has asked for any financial help with it

My son has FOMO about not doing this and always feels he's missed out.
