Vaping

Hi all,

DS is 16 and decided a couple of days ago that he would like to quit vaping. This is a decision I hoped he would make for himself.

Yesterday, he told me he was struggling with cravings and nicotine withdrawal. I would really like to help him with this. Has anyone got any advice or suggestions so that I can support him and set him up for success?

Thank you. 🙂

How long has he been vaping?
Does the vape actually contain nicotine?
If at school they can probably help. Also if 16 is now the right time to quit if addicted as thought they were doing GCSE/ mocks now. That doesn't mean I would tell him not to quit.

Agree with PP.... if he's doing his GCSEs, now might not be the time to chuck a nicotine withdrawal in the mix. Probably not a popular MN response but in the grand scheme of things a few more weeks won't matter.

Local pharmacists give advice on quitting smoking and will probably offer advice on quitting vaping. They might suggest things like nicotine patches to reduce the cravings.

My husband spoke to the pharmacist and they agreed on nicotine gum which he successfully quit with. However did start back up again after 3 months or so. He has decided to wait until after exams to quit again.
