Driving test booked - need to change date?

We have DS’s test booked in July but it is now going to clash with a cricket tour; we didn’t realise the dates are different to usual. Is there any way to change it and not have to go back weeks and weeks or do we cancel it and take pot luck?!

I’ve seen mention of various apps; we didn’t use one to book it originally but are happy to pay more if there’s any chance of scooping up a different date as he’ll have more work options if he gets it under his belt

Edited - it does say on the confirmation you can change the date but with no indication of actually how possible that is with all the delays iyswim!

I never found any of the apps worked for us. I ended up paying £170 to a man on facebook that 'arranges' tests! Cancellations apparently come out every Monday from the DVLA at 6am but according to my DS
Instructor these dodgy people buy them all up and sell them on.

Download Testi. I can't remember if it's £10 or £20 but it scooped DD a driving test within a month the same day I downloaded it. She'd waited 6 months for the previous one (which she failed).

You have to have a test (any test, anywhere) booked to use it - just book anything even if it's hundreds of miles away -and then it crawls the diary, looking for something sooner in your preferred location.

A bit of a fiddle setting it up correctly so you can book the new test with one click before someone else snaps it up, but worth doing.

Thank you both - that’s really helpful.

It’s awful really that they are having to wait so long, and also that random people are gaming the systems or a profit! I see on the giv website they are gradually decreasing the waiting time though, which is something
