Best shoes for my teen girl

My teen daughter is moving schools and I promised to get her new shoes but she is stuck between Nike Air Forces 1s and Claires leather school shoes (she says she likes the aesthetic, whatever that is) but she thinks that all the kids will make cool shoes and she doesn't want to be 'that' girl in leather schoes

At DD’s school absolutely no way would they have been allowed to wear Air Forces or trainers of any kind. Traditional black leather brogues or pumps are the norm for her school and any all the others around us!

What’s the school uniform policy, my DDs school is very strict, plain black shoes that can be polished, no heals no logos, no sports shoes, no ballet shoes. In primary my DD always wore kickers but was worried she’d get in trouble because of the teeny tiny logo on it. I ended up getting her a similar pair of these from Dune.

I love those Dune shoes!
What is the school rule on shoes?
My DC are allowed completely black trainers and I see more AF1 on the way to school than anything else.
DS has Air Max 90 as he liked them better.
DD has Adidas superstar, again her choice.
No one has ever said anything negative to either of them.
If trainers are allowed I think any brand would be ok as far as other kids opinions go.
Leather proper shoes are lovely but more likely to be ridiculed by teens, unless they have to wear that style.

My school allow trainers and it is Air Force Ones all the way!

OttolenghiSimple · 24/02/2024 00:18

Ask for the policy. Everyone at my dc’s school wears AF1.

CadyEastman · 24/02/2024 08:01

Read the Uniform policy very, very carefully OP. There's not a single high school around us that would allow branded trainers.

AF1 all the way.

iffyi · 24/02/2024 09:57

AF1 or doc martens if within budget and no trainers allowed

You do realise that AF1s are trainers…? Traditionally they’re basketball shoes!

I think the sentence is

AF1, or doc Martens if in budget and no trainers (ie AF1) allowed.

sadierussell2 · 25/02/2024 16:55

The policy allows 'Black only' but have photographs of AF1s

My Dd school policy says shoes have to be polishable with AF1's are. Everyone wears them in all the schools in this area

Absolutely no trainers here.

DD had Geox until GCSEs and moved to Doc Martens for 6th form. She also has a pair of boots from Next she wears with skirts.

Luckily she is not into brands at all.
