Done with school

Anyone else just wishing these final weeks of year 11 away?

Dd16 is just done with school. She’s really academic and loves the actual learning but she’s done with the idiots in the corridors, the bitchy girls and just the whole secondary school experience. Really wish they finished for exam prep like I did in the 80s where we just went in for exams…

just been saying that college will hopefully be a whole new, positive experience and I’m so hoping it’s true. With Covid in years 7 and 8 it’s been one hell of ride through secondary school!

anyone else feeling the same?

Bless her - yes, DD and a lot of her friends felt the same way. Hang in there!!

I work in a secondary school and every year these last few months of term I see so many Year 11s that have just outgrown school and you can tell they're more than ready for their next step.16 year olds that are more like men than boys not wanting to follow the school rules that are the same for 11 year olds. It's a tough few weeks for them but it'll fly.

Yes my dd can barely wait to start college for the exact same reasons.

All of mine found Y12 a massive improvement on Y11. They all stayed on at school for Sixth Form.

One of mine was bullied throughout primary and secondary . When I asked about the situation towards the end of the first term of Y12, dc said "All the dickheads have left. The students who have stayed on want to get decent grades. And they're more mature." No more bullying 😊

A couple of years later a sibling came home after the first week or two of Y12, glowing with delight at how their eagerness to speak up in lessons, and to actually study, was not mocked by classmates.

Thank you so much everyone.

i was having one of those ‘smile’ ‘be positive’ for your child moments when my heart was sinking and i was worrying for her.

sounds like she’s in good company and she just needs to knuckle down and get it done! Thank you for your positive stories everyone ❤️
