Just a post to say hang in there if your child is struggling with friendships.
My lovely daughter struggled with friendships after her best friend left school to be home schooled. They had literally done everything together and it was like a bereavement. She was already struggling with lack of confidence and this almost tipped her over the edge into a dark depression. Over lockdown she wouldn’t even get out of the car in the garden to see her grandparents. She would cry before school and question why she didn’t have friends. She had days when she didn’t speak to anyone at school and spent lunchtimes in the toilets. We worked with a private psychologist who slowly put her on the right track and we thankfully had support from school. It’s been a really slow and often painful journey but she’s just gone off shopping with a friend and she was the confident one! Yesterday she went out with another friend.
just a friendly handhold to those struggling who think it will never change that things can. It’s often slow and you’ll no doubt have set backs but it can happen.

How wonderful your DD has come through this. I can't imagine how distressing it was for both of you.
I wish her many more trips out. You should be very proud x

I have spent so many hours on mumsnet searching for positive posts to give me encouragement that things would change that I was determined to be that light when we got some positive news.
i know there may still be dark days ahead but these glimpses of light will keep us going.
