I need some mums of teen advice! My SD 16 has lived with us for 3 years fully no contact with mum just for context.
She left school and wanted to go to this quite fancy college for creative arts (drama, music, film, gaming, dance etc) to study music.
DH and I were quite shocked as she hadn't mentioned much and she loves listening to music but very much her own genre. We went to the open day which was fantastic but she was adamant she only wanted to do music no other courses so a couple of 3rd years showed us around and told us about the equipment she would need, very expensive even second hand but they had lots of helpful tips to make it more than doable.
We all left and my DH said apply buy have a good think about it because so many kids in their played instruments/ sang had a really passion for music so competition will be fierce. We offered to get her lessons over the summer in something but she didn't want to. A week later she doesn't want to go as she's read the books and has no interest in the majority of the course. Fine no problem.
2nd option she wanted to go to the local college to do film studies. Has done that for 1 year but honestly again has zero passion for it! Which I find infuriating! She had to make a trailer and left it to the last minutes and couldn't be bothered to use the college amazing if equipment she used her iPhone.... which they told us was disappointing but it was a option gave to them.
She does not watch films... only Adam sandler re runs has no interest in different genres and cannot for the life of her follow a plot if it's got a few twists etc!
She's amazing at so many things but we are just at a loss and why she's choosing these hard subjects which was must stand out like a sore thumb in!
