I know it depends on the child, but at what age would you have left your child alone overnight? (Reasonably close by not overseas or anything)

15

DS was left for one night at 15. Now 16 and shortly to be left for two nights. He’s quite happy with it, knows who to contact if he needs help etc. DD is only 12 but I’m not sure if she will be happy to be left at the same age - she is much more anxious, but you never know how much she will change over the next 3 or 4 years so who knows. So really depends on the child.

Undoubtedly you’ll get some saying 15 is too young and pointing to guidance from NSPCC saying shouldn’t be left overnight under 16, but it is only guidance. I think it’s really important to start giving them that responsibility - in 2 years he may well be living alone at Uni or working elsewhere, and needs to be built up to that.

17 - in reality she could’ve been left from about 15 onwards, she just didn’t want to be since she’s only child so no siblings etc around ti keep her company
