Hi all,

Has anyone got their teens (or younger) to start cleaning interdentally and if so at what age? Also, what products would you recommend (floss, brushes, water flossers)? My DS (14, no braces) has needed a little tartar removal at his previous 3x dental checkups with the ultrasonic scaler. The dentist is a little rough (DS has been put off visiting) and not particularly helpful with advice; he said he doesn't usually recommend flossing until 2/3 years later (despite DS' build-up being clearly in-between his teeth).

I'd also like to start taking DS to a private hygienist regularly for both cleaning and advice. Does anyone do this with their kids? I've heard of some hygienists just offering advice for children whereas DS would benefit from a thorough cleaning. I'm thinking a frequency of 3 months would probably be appropriate given the time it takes for the build-up to become noticeable.

TIA (PFA; that machine goes through me 😬😂)
