How to get curly fringe for teen boy

My son has poker straight hair but loves the fashion for a curly fringe which we currently get by curling with straighteners. I can't believe all teen boys have natural curls so how do your kids get a curly fringe, is it a perm??

My son gets his hair permed

My hairdresser says their main clients for perms these days are 16-24yo boys/men.

It’s a perm!

ChateauMargaux · 29/11/2023 20:53

Mine uses my very retro curling tongs.. and sculpting powder..

They all have perms these days! I’d discourage and get him his own straighteners- or tongs might be easier?

Ds has resented his curly hair for years and now finally he's in fashion!

Perms. My son’s friend has a massive ‘80s perm sitting on top of his head. It’s only a matter of time before he goes full mullet perm.

DoverWight · 29/11/2023 21:04

Wow a perm is clearly the answer, how often do they need to be done as his hair grows so fast?

Mine uses some sort of salt spray stuff that he scrunches up his hair with (like mousse in the 80s!!😁). Saves getting a perm

BoohooWoohoo · 29/11/2023 21:20

Mine does the salt spray and scrunching too.

Another one that tousles his hair with a towel and uses salt spray. He has quite thick hair and it was naturally curly when a toddler, so it's not too difficult to achieve the desired affect.

Skinny straighteners
Ruffle up
Gel spray
