my Son is 15 and 5 months old and has barely added any weight since the age of 13 when he was about 39KG and around 5ft 2in. we were referred by the GP to a dietitian who basically said is he eating if so give him some fortified milk each day and should be ok. thats was about 2 1/2 years ago and hes now 5ft 5 in and 40.5kg. im worried hes not absorbing food. hes a bit of a fussy eater and leaves around half of his dinner, usually the greens. he will eat junk quite happily but this isnt what we eat as a family.

any ideas? go back to GP?

Yeah that is very underweight. You say he will eat junk - what do you mean by junk? What exactly WILL he eat? He needs calories but also protein, vits and minerals. If he will go to the GP that's a good starting point.

McDonalds, Dominoes, chips etc. basically anything deep fried. not a huge fan of chocolate and will quite happily game on his PC or watch his ipad for hours without eating or drinking unless we remind him.
