16yo DD hiding things

I need advice on my DD & how to talk to her on finding alcohol, vapes & a pregnancy test in her room.

I have no idea how to talk to her about it. I know it’s an invasion of privacy & I feel guilty for that but it’s the only way I can make sure she’s safe. I previously found blades and she had been self harming, which she seems to have stopped doing now. This time I also found what looked like a goodbye note to her boyfriend & I’m terrified she was thinking of doing something dangerous. She has been in a depressive state for a while now & I am just at my wits end.

what have people in a similar position done? How do I broach all this with her?

I'm sorry you're in this situation. Could you perhaps say that you know she was feeling down so wanted to tidy her room for her as you hoped it would make her feel better And you found the .....

How bloody terrifying for you. I have no experience but hopefully this will give your thread a little bump.

Been in exactly the same position, sadly younger, but really sorry I am not sure anything we did helped much- time and maturity seem to be helping a bit. Mine was angry when challenged but at that time she was angry all the time anyway. Lots of things going on which she could not handle at such a young age.
You need to address it, as self harm and note are a massive sign she is struggling- think we had our eye off the ball and wasted time- i wish i had been aware earlier what was going on in her life.
The previous idea about ‘cleaning her room’ is a good way into the conversation but she needs to know she can talk to you and the note means you can’t ignore it. Dr and Camhs were sort of helpful. I think many many young people are , possibly due to social media, getting involved in sexual relationships and other things before they are mature enough and it messes with their mental health.
