DD- history of OCD since age 12 ish. Tall and slim- 5 feet 9 always ate whatever she wanted, loved food, cooking etc. Now her OCD is making her anxious around food and she has restricted her eating to breakfast- porridge or muesli, small sandwich at lunch and a proper dinner in evening. Anxious about eating anything in between, eating at other peoples houses or outside the home except with parents. BMI is 15.85 and periods have stopped. Been referred to Royal Free today but am concerned that they treat Anorexia not OCD food anxiety. Should she be seen here or somewhere else? She has never had any help for OCD and we have read a lot and managed it ourselves as a family. She was doing a lot better but this is the latest manifestation of it. Her anxiety stems from thinking people are ‘greedy’ when she sees them eating and then worrying she is greedy and a bad person. She doesn’t weigh herself or count calories/ she isn’t trying to be a certain weight although she is very resistant to the idea of ‘ gaining weight’ because in her mind it’s another term for being ‘fat’ . I don’t think this is classic Anorexia so who should she see. We can go private if necessary. We are based in London. Has anyone got experience of the service at the Royal Free?
