Hi everyone, 16yr DD has had sex. Went on the 12 hr mini pill. Lost an inch off her boobs. Which she is very very distressed about.
It acts as a duiretic. Has anyone had this? Does the 3 hour mini pill make it any better? Any other contraception advice? She can't take the combined as she's had migraines. Only 5 about 2 years ago. But still. She can't apparently. So... any other ideas? Help.

Could she instead suggest/insist on the use of condoms?
I’m a woman myself and have a daughter & I went on the pill at 16 for 20 years.
I’ve read more as an adult about the side effects of the pill on women’s hormones (How the pill changes everything) and would ask my daughter to read that before making a decision about which contraception she wants to use.

Yes. That's her concern and mine. However. Am worried. She used condoms twice and they split.
I have tried to show her how to use condoms properly. She doesn't really want to listen. I have asked her to show her boyfriend. She says she will discuss it. But I'm sure she hasn't. It's a very difficult conversation to have. Help!!

I haven’t used it myself but my friends have had good experiences with the coil

Not wishing to be patronising but it’s great you’re having these conversations with her by the way!

My DD has just started on this pill too - it's early days but I'm watching her closely for any side effects. There seems to be limited options if a history of migraines doesn't there. I understand your stress!

Second a coil if she will, I got one when I was 17 due to migraines and ended up having several over the years. Uncomfortable without a doubt when being fitted but then very effective and last for years.

Another coil vote. I have the copper coil after being on the pill for nearly 20 years on and off. Why I didn't change earlier I don't know. I feel so much better in myself, didn't realise how much the pill depressed me.

Both my teenager DDs have the Implant - no worries for 3 years with regards to unplanned pregnancies, light periods are a benefit. They also use condoms as well.
