Other mums

Bit of a contentious one here. I feel bullied by other mothers. Not all obviously. But two mums in the friend group at secondary school. The kids aren't great either.
At primary it was fine. You met all the mums and got to know them. And could liase.
At secondary it's awful. And I feel bullied by 2 mums. It's like they are hideous alpha females dominating me. And they are winning.
It's like have 2 awful mother in laws.

Does anyone else have this?

What are they doing? I wouldn't have thought you'd have much to do with the other mums now.

Flyhigher · 04/10/2023 21:21

16th birthday. Also her boyfriend's mum.

A boyfriend's mum is like a mother in law.

Avoid them?

Flyhigher · 04/10/2023 21:25

Her best friend lives in the street and is a Witch. Going to see colleges etc with them. It's hell.

I don't understand. How is the mother of your daughters boyfriend like your mother in law?

What's this woman actually doing to you? Who is the other mum bullying you as you mentioned two mums?

Flyhigher · 04/10/2023 21:26

Any tips? Can't avoid them. And it's all text which I hate. At primary it was all face to face.

Can’t you just ignore them?

Flyhigher · 04/10/2023 21:28

They control things to their convenience. At all times. No compromise. Their way or highway.

Do you show that you care? If so, maybe show that you don’t. It takes their oxygen away.

Flyhigher · 04/10/2023 21:30

@LovelyMMOG I wish. Can you just ignore MIL's?

OP posts:
Flyhigher · 04/10/2023 21:31

They dominate things in their house. And also dominate things in mine.

Can't it just be the highway? If not why not? You're talking to vaguely to give any proper advice tbh!

Scutterbug · 04/10/2023 21:32

Your posts aren’t making much sense. Can you give more detail?

NotSuchASmugMarried · 04/10/2023 21:34

16 year old schoolgirls don't have mothers-in-law - they have homework.

Focus on your daughters schooling and ignore all the drama.

What does she want to do when she leaves school?

@LovelyMMOG I wish. Can you just ignore MIL's?

Your child's boyfriends mum is not your mil. Confused

You really need to explain what is happening because your posts are all over the place? Are you the 16 yo?

My daughter's boyfriend's mother is acting in a very controlling manner. A bit like a MIL.

OP posts:
Spinet · 04/10/2023 21:51

Yes but how specifically. Like what are the examples and what is your stopping going about your own life as normal?

Flyhigher · 04/10/2023 21:52

I guess it will take a long time to explain. Just wondering if other mums had had issues with their DD 16 friends mothers and boyfriends mothers?

My DD Boyfriends mother is quite controlling like a mother in law. Has anyone had this?

She's deciding that her son can't get changed in this house for example. To go celebrate my daughter's birthday. But she's quite happy for my daughter to get changed at hers. And also to spend time there alone with no adults in the house.

Flyhigher · 04/10/2023 21:56

I guess they are baby mother in laws.

@NotSuchASmugMarried I hear you. She's had a boyfriend from 14. Not my choice. So by 16. It's kind of a MIL. But yes she should have homework.
