Yes.
I let many instances slide, try not to intrude, let her be a hermit with a phone.
But I don't accept no communication at all, and tell her when she's being rude. That relationships go both ways - if she wants things from us, she has to behave like a member of a family and not a boarder.

I don't ask how her day has been. I do ask what her best friend is up to today, whether anyone said anything funny in school. Any juicy gossip?
I try not to talk to her when I see she's clearly irritable, or when she's busy doing something else (so, most of the time). It is far from perfect, but I insist on some level of contact.

ETA: Look up the thread "Just a friendly hand hold for any other mums of teens", it is very helpful. It deals with this and many other kinds of issues.

How do you interact with her? Do you start natural conversations she may be interested in being a part of? Or do you find yourself trending on egg shells and saying things that will cause an eye roll?

they’re all different but most 15 year olds can be a bit prickly and non communicative at times.

my advice would be Don’t ask her too many questions that may seem like prying. Ask her opinion on things “hmm I’m not sure whether or not I like this top, what do you think?” Compliment her, hair, make up, outfit etc. start random cut chat conversations where there’s no pressure to disclose anything deep and meaningful. I find after some general chat the more important stuff comes more easily.
