How can I stop feeling so bad? DD's bf of 5 months has changed mind about her and she is devastated. I to am really upset as its hard to see her so sad.. I know it will blow over and teenagers are very fickle but I should be able to cope better than this !!!!

Sorry I havent got any experience with this yet. Just remembering how devastated I was when my first love broke off with me.

How old are they? I would be very gentle with her. Lots of TLC and keep a close eye on her. Tell her that maybe they are too young to get heavily involved and that they may get back together again when they are older and more ready (even if they wont).

I wish I could give you a magic answer but instead you have lots of sympathy - and I guess apart from anything else, after 5 months you must have grown quite close to him?

It's a scenario I dread - have 18 year old DD wth BF of 10 months, and he's become part of the family, great with the younger kids etc. If and when they split, DD will be distraught and the rest of us will really miss him.

Treat her as much as you can, duvet days with soppy films and ice cream, plenty of chocolate, do things to take her mind off it etc.
Just never ever make it sound like they were anything other than loves young dream, I rmember being totally pissed off being told 'It wasn't love' and 'you're too young' etc.
