DS16. Struggling with his hygiene

DS16 has adhd. For background

Every day is a battle to get him to shower.

He smells, his room smells. Even the bathroom smells AFTER he's showered.

First day at college today

Big row this morning because although he showered his favourite joggers weren't clean (he never brings his washing down!) and he wanted to wear his very run down air force ones. Big holes in the top. Soles hanging off. They stink like hell.

He's adamant he can't wear his black Nikes with a dark blue tick because his clothes have to match (he will only wear one colour together 🙈)

I'm at my wits end! He has a good group of friends. Has just split with his girlfriend of 1yr plus. But he has been like this for the past few years.

He takes pride in how he looks, spends £30 a month on haircuts. I just don't understand why he wants to smell.

I don't think they know they smell badly. Sometimes their clothing just gets stinky and washing won't work. It is a common problem. Try and find a nice deodorant and wield the febreze!
