I am really struggling to help my Ds 19 and keep him in the family home. Seems to blowing all his pay on weed, then is evil for the rest of the month. He is threatening and controlled l and I can't take any more.

I can't give you any advice sorry.
But I was your son at 17 and it wasn't weed....😳
I hate what I put my parents through but they never stopped the love and support.
I am nearly 60 now with grown up kids and grandchildren and very very very respectable..... ish

Oh gosh I don’t know what to say. My dd was like this from 14-16 then after an intervention with police/social workers/the school and a lot of family therapy is now the golden child at 22 years old.

It was absolute hell for those 2 years, I genuinely lost the plot mentally and physically, I didn’t cope very well. Thankfully for us the above worked and we are back to normal. Have you tried anything like counselling/doctors?

Thank you for the replies and kindness. I've tried everything I can, but he is at the age where he has to give consent. Yesterday he was absolutely awful just out of the blue, it's like a switch. I have seen many previous threads on here about similar situations but then they disappear. I am also peri so not in a good place myself and this is breaking me and my marriage up.

@Meltinthemiddle have you asked him what’s wrong? Do you have a close relationship?

I ended up having to leave my job and spend every waking minute fixing my dds broken soul. It took a long time but like I said she’s back to normal now. It might be tougher at his age though.
