Hair dye

AIBU for not allowing my 15 yo to bleach their hair bright white? She definitely identifies as ‘alternative’ LGBT+, has short choppy hair and so basically seems to want to look like an animae character.I feel uncomfortable although I’m not sure why. I do understand the desire for self expression and that teenage years are the years for experimentation.

Personally, I'd let her. Unless there would be a problem in terms of school in September having rules about non-natural hair colours. If she's alt LGBTQA+ already you might as well embrace it, it's only hair colour.
Mine was green at 15 and now I look totally respectable in a professional level job, still being part of the alt LGBTQA+ community

It's only hair I would pick my battles. She will more than likely go and do at a Mayes house anyway. At least this way you could take her somewhere and you have a chance of it looking nice.

I think YABU

It's just hair.

I think I would let her too but I’d make sure she knows how to protect her hair to stop it becoming damaged. I used to dye my hair all sorts of colours as a teenager and then hit a phase that I didn’t like bright colours anymore.
