Hi, does anyone’s teenager do modelling?

my daughter would like to pursue a career in this possibly down the runway route as she is very tall for her age 14 years old and 5ft 9 maybe even taller since I last measured her.

any advice? I’m not sure where to even begin
thanks 😊

My youngest was scouted by Elite models and PRM and chose Elite. He gave up in Covid as wasn’t getting any work , but did get to go to Paris and Milan for the fashion weeks and had some very flattering pictures taken by up and coming photographers. You need a letter from your GP to work in France or Italy to say you are healthy and what your BMI is.

it’s a lot of dragging round castings for a lot of rejections 🤣. Also a lot of going to London and back at little notice as the castings are all in London.

My sister’s best friend is a model and had some horrendous things happen back in the day, but my youngest just got spoiled and his ego over inflated.

Callum Harper on TikTok shows it warts and all. He’s getting quite successful now.

I wasn’t so worried about an eating disorder with my lad as he’s always been a skinny lanky thing, but he was spot on for the job with a BMI of 16, so if your daughter isn’t that naturally without having to try, don’t encourage her as the pressure will affect her eating.

Make a list of the key agencies - a quick Google will give you them but your daughter probably knows - and give them a ring. Most friends of mine who got taken on back in the day used to drop in - but I’m guessing you just send a bunch of photos these days and they ask you in if they see any potential.

It’s a very high churn rate these days, most models have short careers and earn a admin job like salary. A few friends felt it really fucked up their A levels to no end. So be realistic - if she does get taken up if she isn’t making money after a year it probably isn’t happening.

I’d agree with PPs that if she isn’t naturally skinny, don’t go there - it’s hell. 5ft 9 is often the minimum height now so she wouldn’t be considered especially tall.

She’s a size 6 naturally
